Three things to know

How It Works

01

Ask questions first

A clinical trial is a medical study that tests whether a new treatment is safe and works well. Before anything starts, our team explains the study in plain language and answers every question you have.

02

See if you qualify

Every study has rules about who can join — like age, health history, or current medications. A short conversation and a screening visit tell us whether a study is a fit for you.

03

Your health comes first

A licensed physician oversees your care at every visit. You may stop participating at any time, for any reason, and your regular medical care will not be affected.

Honest answers

Common Questions

Are clinical trials safe?

Patient safety is the first priority of every study. Treatments are tested in earlier research before they reach our site, and every study must be reviewed and approved by an independent ethics board (an IRB) before it can begin. A licensed physician monitors your health at every visit, you are told about the known risks during the consent process — before you decide anything — and you can stop at any time.

How do I know if I qualify?

Every study has its own requirements — things like age, medical history, and current medications. The only way to know is to ask: a short phone conversation, and if it looks like a possible fit, a screening visit, will tell you. There is no cost and no obligation to find out.

Does it cost anything?

No. Study visits, study medication, and study-related tests are provided at no cost. Many studies also compensate you for your time and travel.

Do I need insurance?

No insurance is required to take part in a clinical study at A1 Clinical.

What happens at a study visit?

It depends on the study, but visits usually include a check-in with the study team, some health measurements (such as blood pressure, an ECG, or lab work), and time with a physician investigator. Everything is explained in advance, and many visits are done in under an hour.

Will my personal information be kept private?

Yes. Your health information is kept confidential and protected under privacy rules including HIPAA. Only the authorized study team can access your records, and any information shared with the study sponsor is coded so that it does not identify you personally.

Will I be a "guinea pig"?

Studies at our site test treatments that have already been through earlier safety research. You always know what the study involves before you agree, and a physician monitors your health throughout.

Do I have to stop seeing my own doctor?

No. Taking part in a study does not replace your regular medical care — you keep seeing your own doctor. With your permission, our team can keep your doctor informed about your participation.

What if I have a side effect or something does not feel right?

Tell the study team right away — you can reach us at any time. A physician monitors your health throughout the study, your safety always comes first, and you can stop taking part at any point, for any reason.

Can I change my mind?

Yes — at any time, for any reason. Participation is always voluntary.
